About me and my therapy practice
I came to this work because I believe people don’t need to stay stuck in the situations they find themselves in. There is hope and there is help.

My name is Sarah (she/her) and I’m a qualified therapist
We all want to be understood, and if you feel like you’re carrying something that you want to put down, maybe I can help you.
My core practitioner training is in psychodynamic counselling, but I draw from a variety of techniques. I work in a relational way, creating an accepting space for you to be you.
Psychodynamic talking therapy
Being trained in psychodynamic therapy means I am particularly interested in how our early experiences and relationships effect our adult lives. I work with you to identify these effects with the aim of helping you improve the way you think and feel.
Many of these effects are unconscious – we are not aware of why we think and feel the way we do, or why we do things which are not always for our benefit. In your therapy, I will help you to make sense of these challenges and to understand yourself better.
Relational therapy
I work to build a safe and trusting relationship helping you to feel more comfortable to share whatever is on your mind. I may bring attention to what it feels like to be in the room with me. This can often provide significant opportunities for insight by exploring how this can mirror your other relationships.
My qualifications and training
I trained for over 4 years and have a BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling. This is important because it means the training I undertook is to the high standard that the main accrediting body in the UK has set.
Additionally, I continue to undertake specialist training and continued professional development (CPD). This ensures I keep my skills and knowledge up to date on a wide variety of presenting issues, including sexual abuse, perinatal and birth trauma, boarding school syndrome, suicide, self-harm, domestic abuse and criminality.

As a Registered Member of the BACP I am bound by their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. This includes the requirement that I attend regular supervision to discuss my client work with an experienced colleague. I also attend personal analysis.
I periodically complete DBS checks (Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service) which look for criminal records, and I’m registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) following their data protection regulations.
About our therapy sessions
Whether in person or online, we will meet once a week, on the same day and at the same time, for 50 minutes. This consistency is essential to building the relationship and for lasting change.
I don’t set homework, give you tasks to complete, or offer advice. Instead, we work in a collaborative way in the room, or online, to help you find the answers that are authentically yours.
My session fees
My fee is £60 for a 50 minute session. I also have a limited number of reduced fee spaces starting at £45 for people in receipt of benefits or on a low income. Get in touch to set up a phone call to discuss.
